Today was one of the best, eventful Thursdays that I've had in awhile. It was nice to have Dale home and we all had a good day enjoying each others company. Everett and I got up early this morning while Daddy slept in and caught up on some Zzz's. I think it's time to get some new toys for Everett. I couldn't get him entertained with any this morning and finally handed him a measuring cup and he loved it. He actually played with it for awhile while I got some breakfast ready.
We had a Doctor's appointment for Everett's 6 month check up and shots. He's healthy as can be and weighed 16.7 lbs and measured 25.5 inches long. His head circumference was 17.5 inches. According to this, Everett is in the 26.6 percentile for weight, 3.6 percentile for height, and 62.3 percentile for head circumference. I'm not sure the accuracy of this website because he seems to be awfully short but then again, he may already be taking after his mother.
It's as if he knew what was comin'. He looks scared!
My tough, little man did great as usual. I hear other babies screaming bloody murder in the nearby rooms but Everett just let out one, long cry during all 3 shots. He seemed to be happy and in good spirits after the Doctor's visit so we had a quick lunch at Pho Van. I needed my quick Pho fix for the week!
He passed out on the way home but once he woke up, he was ready to play!
I wanted to ask the nurse if she ran out of blue band aides or if she thought Everett was a girl but I don't think he cared either way. He proudly rocked the hot pink camo band aides.
We planned on introducing new solid foods every 7 days but we were a little anxious and started Everett on veggies a day early. We gave him sweet potatoes and they were a hit. He LOVED them!
He hated rice cereal and oatmeal and cried at the sight of the spoon so I was a little concerned that he had no interest in solids all together and that he wouldn't enjoy the sweet potatoes but he proved me wrong. He looks a little disgusted at first but it was his very bite but he didn't seem to mind after a few more. We ended up giving him a little more because he seemed to enjoy it so much.
I am so proud of how Everett did today. As all you mothers know, it's a dreaded day when your baby has to be poked by needles and even worse to hear those cries of pain. I feel so blessed that Everett does not get a fever or has trouble sleeping at night from the wrath of these shots. We put him to bed early and he's been sound asleep ever since.
I tried my hand at making shrimp and broccoli yakisoba tonight and it was delicious. Needless to say, there are no leftovers.
Thursday ended on a good note and here's to a fabulous Friday tomorrow!
First of all.... YUM for that yakisoba... was it super hard to make??? Or are you a super good cook?? wow! my stomach is growling now...
ReplyDeleteYay for Everett's 6 Mo appointment going well!!! Bennett has his appointment this afternoon.... not looking forward to the shots but anxious to see how he's grown!
