1st Haircut

My last blog post said that Everett wasn't getting a haircut anytime in the near future. Well, he got one last week. It was a devastating experience for him that involved a lot of tears and screaming. We got a half a haircut and sadly, his hair looks looks a bit funny. It looks as if the hair stylist put a bowl over his head and cut the hair around it. I'm always brushing the front of his hair over to the side so it doesn't have the bowl look.

I think I'm going to let it grow out and buy a trimming set so I can just upkeep on it. It'll be a very long time before we go back to a salon.

He was so happy to get out of the chair and into Mommy's arms.

Still upset on the drive home.

His haircut is so uneven and it looks a bit silly but it's cute at the same time. He was all smiles when we got home.

Haircut

Dale and I had plans to get Everett's haircut last weekend. Normally, if we have something planned for the weekend, I always have to remind Dale what we're going to do but I intentionally failed to mention taking Everett in for his haircut. I don't want to cut his hair! I know he needs it because it's in his eyes and I'm constantly brushing it out of his face but I love how it curls and flips out in the back. And it's his baby hair! I think he should keep it forever.

In the meantime, I've put off getting his first haircut. Why? Because I am the Mom and I said so.

I am so Rico Suave and this is how I comb my hair.

But it's so long and I'm not so thrilled that it's in my eyes all the time.

I'll still be happy if you don't want to cut my hair yet, Mom.

Mom's Purse

I have a lot of toys that my Mommy and Daddy have gotten me but lately, I just haven't been interested in them. I know that I can always find lots of fun things to play with in Mom's purse.

Especially her cell phone!

Not only can I find fun stuff in there but it's also a great spot to put some of my stuff in too!

Storytime

Everett and I attended Sandy's weekly Toddler Storytime yesterday. It was half an hour and during this time, they read 2 books and sang a few songs. Most of the kids were about 3 years old and were able to get involved a little bit more and as for Everett, he was way more interested in the books on the book shelf and ripping them out of their neat and orderly spot. After storytime, he did walk up to the children's librarian though and gave her a hug and sat himself down in her lap. I think he's gotten past a little bit of his Stranger Danger phase.

We spent some time in the play area of the library and I think he enjoyed playing with the puzzles and especially getting out of the house into a new environment.

Playdate at Omsi

Just one day, I wish that the work week would fly by and the weekend would drag on and on. As usual, our weekend flew by and it was full of busyness but we were able to get out on Saturday for a fun, much-needed play date with Amber and Nicolas. We met them at Omsi and had a good time letting our little guys spend some time together and explore all the fun things that this place has to offer.

All ready to go to Omsi

Checking out the fish tank

It was great seeing Amber and Nicolas again and the boys had a great time together.

Fun in the Tub

I'm not sure who enjoys bath time more. Me or Everett. Everett has always enjoyed baths and never was a newborn who cried during them. As he's gotten older, he seems to enjoy them more. Look how happy he looks!

He likes to stand up in the tub but we're working on teaching him what "sit on your bottom" means. I think he's gettin' it though because he sits down most of the time.

{This poor child inherited my flat, Asian butt.}

With Everett's eczema, it was recommended that we limit his baths but at his one year visit, his pediatrician said that through research, they have found that bathing more often helps clear eczema. We now enjoy bath times every night to every other night.
